Stanley Dale Bridges

Stanley Dale Bridges, 55, was called to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2008, at Hamilton Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Durand and Eunice Silvey Bridges.

Mr. Bridges retired as director of student services with the Whitfield County Board of Education, following more than 30 years in the education field. He attended Lakeview High School and received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He received his degree as specialist in education at Georgia State University and further post-graduate certification in education administration at Lincoln University. He came to Whitfield Schools as a school psychologist in 1978, next as special education coordinator, followed by assistant director and director of special education. He was a member of both the Georgia and National Associations of School Psychologists as well as several other associations related to his field.

Mr. Bridges was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, serving both as a deacon and an elder. He served on the board of the Family Support Council, a member of the Whitfield County Family Connection and worked with the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife Eva Kathryn Spivey Bridges, his son Patrick Taylor Bridges; his sister, LaDonna (Charlie) Tyler; his nephew Cory (Julie) Tyler; his great niece, Lauren Tyler.

A Memorial Celebration of the life of Stanley Bridges will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, Dalton on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Diabetes Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the Family Support Council, the First Presbyterian Church, Dalton, or your favorite charity.

Arrangements are being made by the Cremation Society of Georgia Inc. Atlanta.
