ROME — Rick Gilbert, a Berry College alumnus and trustee who now serves as vice chair, chief operating officer and director of CompuCredit Corp. in Atlanta, will be the featured speaker for Berry’s 2008 Executive Round Table (ERT) spring dinner. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Krannert Center Ballroom.
The ERT dinner will feature a presentation by Gilbert, followed by a brief discussion period. Time for networking is also built into the program. A native of Armuchee, Ga., Gilbert spent one year as a student at Berry in the mid-1970s before continuing his education at the John Marshall Law School, where he graduated cum laude in 1978. In addition to his duties at CompuCredit – which he co-founded in 1996 – Gilbert also chairs the Georgia Community Foundation. In February, he was elected to regular membership on the Berry College Board of Trustees. Past affiliations include the Georgia Land Trust (which he served as president) and the Board of Directors for the Consumer Credit Counseling Service. He is married to Debra Bourne Gilbert, also a Berry alumna. The couple has two children.
The Executive Round Table originated at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1956. Berry formed the second, or Beta, chapter in 1989. The organization’s purpose is to encourage and help develop students who display outstanding character and leadership. Membership includes a mixture of students, faculty and industry/business executives.
