ATLANTA — Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) released the following statement regarding his decision to remain in his current role.

“Since the decision of Lt. Governor Cagle to not seek election as governor in 2010, I have received a number of inquires into my interest in running for governor. I am truly honored by the suggestion that I may be capable of serving in Georgia’s highest elected office. However, there is time in life for everything and the impact of running a statewide campaign at this time would not be beneficial to my children. Perhaps at some later time I will consider such an opportunity. As for now I am honored to serve as state senator and majority leader.”
