A Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office deputy was hurt in a two-car wreck at Highway 201 and Griffin Park near the Tunnel Hill Police Department shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with a Georgia State Patrol operator saying the female driver in the other car was DUI.

Deputy Randy Cole was at the hospital after the wreck “getting checked out,” said Maj. John Gibson with the sheriff’s office. “He was complaining of injuries to his arm and neck, but I don’t think at this point that he will be staying overnight,” Gibson said.

The state patrol operator said the accident was still under investigation and he could not release the name of the female driver. A report was not completed, he said.

The Tunnel Hill Police Department and Whitfield County Fire Department Station 7 in Tunnel Hill worked the wreck, according to the state patrol.
