Arvell Monroe Burgess

Mr. Arvell Monroe Burgess, 74, of Dawnville, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Burgess; parents, Sylvester and Fannie Cornielson Burgess; brother, Willard Burgess; sisters, Mary Burgess, Ruby Burgess, Geraldine Burgess, Margaret Gentry and Loretta Shaw.

Mr. Burgess is survived by his children and spouses, Deborah and David Weaver, Belinda and Donnie Long, Gena and James Watts and Danny Burgess, all of Dalton and David and Sheila Burgess of Crandall; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Burgess of Dalton; sisters, Mary Helen Parish of Dalton, Juanita Matthews, Shirley Turner, Eloise Waters and Darlene Raburn, all of Rome; best friends, W.D. and Judy Flener of Dalton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services are Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with the Rev. James Watts, Evangelist Roy Gentry Jr. and Pastor Rick Spense officiating.

Burial will be in the Colonial Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday after 5 p.m.
