Snow threat closes many Ga. schools

ATLANTA (AP) — With several inches of snow forecast for much of Georgia, many schools are closed on Friday.
County school systems are closed in Coweta, Douglas, Early, Fayette, Floyd, Harris, Heard, Henry, Houston, Jackson, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Peach, Pike, Pulaski, Meriwether, Newton, Rockdale, Twiggs amd Washington counties. Carroll County, Clarke County and Decatur city schools will close early, and Commerce and Jefferson city schools will be closed along with Griffin-Spalding and Thomaston-Upson County schools.
Some school districts had already scheduled closings Friday, creating a four-day holiday including Presidents Day.
Many private schools also are closed. The National Weather Service forecasts up to 3 inches of snow in metro Atlanta, with higher totals expected to the south as the storm moves through during the day.
