At the annual meeting of Covenant Bank & Trust earlier this month in Rock Spring, the board of directors elected Thomas R. Durkan III to serve as vice chairman for 2010-2011.

Durkan, a native of Dalton, has served on the board since 2006.

“Director Durkan has served as a member of all the committees of the board and chairman of our executive committee,” President and CEO Trent W. Sanford said. “His dedication to the bank and leadership has been recognized and the board’s confidence in him is shown by this promotion to vice chairman.”

During his term this year, Durkan will continue to assist the directors in planning and guiding the future of Covenant Bank & Trust.

During the meeting Sanford recognized retiring board member Pat Hamilton. Hamilton, a Chickamauga resident, played an integral role in the formation of the bank, Sanford said. Serving on the board from 2006-2010, he provided excellent leadership and helped to promote the bank in the community, he said. Hamilton is retired from the postal service and is a local real estate investor.

“Pat has served Covenant Bank well during his tenure as a director,” Sanford said. “He is a well-known presence in the community and his leadership will be greatly missed.”
