Conyers police plan party crackdown

Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson says house parties are getting out of hand, and he’s planning a crackdown.

Wilson says he met with other officials on Monday to discuss parties such as the one that ended with a fatal shooting early Sunday. He says he’s adopting a zero tolerance policy.

He says his officers will be looking for violations at parties and citing them.

Wilson says the party where an 18-year-old was shot to death included a DJ and security guards, one of whom was a high school student armed with a shotgun.

The chief says it’s obvious that house parties are becoming more violent, and authorities are not going to let them take over neighborhoods.
