Stovall, who performs an estimated 200 concerts per year, has played everywhere from Oprah to the Opry and even sang “God Bless America” for the president at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She is a favorite on college campuses, military bases, fairs, festivals and clubs.
“People ask me a lot why I spend so much time touring,” Stovall said. “I know it’s not the path most country artists take, but I know it’s the right thing for me. The only way I really know I’m heading in the right direction with my music is to get out there and see how people react to it, see if I can really grab them.”
Among others, Stovall has appeared as the opening act for artists including Gretchen Wilson, Little Big Town, Gloriana, Justin Moore, Josh Gracin, Trent Tomlinson, Safetysuit and The Doobie Brothers.
This spring brings the release of her second record, “Standing My Ground,” which features five brand new songs composed by Stovall as well as her version of the Charlie Daniels’ classic “Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
“It’s amazing, my version of ‘Devil’ has been such a big part of my show ever since I started my first band,” she said. “For the past five years people have been asking me if I would record my version. Although part of me felt crazy for recording such a legendary fiddle song, I just knew it was the right thing to do. I really wanted to give something special back to everyone who’s stuck with me and been a part of this adventure so far.”
The outdoor concert is free and open to the public; lawn chairs are recommended. In case of rain, the concert will move inside to the Goodroe Auditorium of Gignilliat Memorial Hall.
