Mr. Lloyd Crowder Jr., 74, of Dalton, departed this life Friday morning, Sept. 9, 2011, at the local hospital.
Junior was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Murphy, N.C., a son of the late Rev. Lloyd B. and Icie Jane Craig Crowder Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, John, Bobby Dean, Alphus and Julius Crowder; his sisters, Maggie Crowder and Loretta Crowder.
Junior was retired form Canteen Vending Co. where he worked for more than 36 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Johnnie K. Allison Crowder of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Christine Crowder; daughters and son-in-law, Loritta and Robert Pierce, all of Dalton, Vickie and Douglas Rogers of Adairsville; stepdaughters, Natalie Callahan of Calhoun and Elizabeth Robertson of Rome; grandchildren, R.J. Pierce, Seth Pierce, Melissa and David Sanders, Amanda Rogers, Lora and Michael Welch; brothers, T.J. Crowder of Farner, Tenn., Joe Crowder of Dalton; sisters, Matie Early of Murphy, N.C., Linetta White of Chatsworth, Minnie Kay Allen and Martha White, both of Dalton; special cousin, Randall Craig of Villanow; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lloyd Crowder Jr. will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. He will be laid to rest at the United Memorial Gardens with Robert Pierce, R.J. Pierce, Seth Pierce, Timothy Shadwick, David Sanders and Chris Banks serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Sunday until the funeral hour.
