Mr. W.F. “Doodle” Nelson, 76, of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Arthur and Ellie Mae Caldwell Nelson and was preceded in death by his sisters, Dimple Keith, Willard Kinnamon and Emma Lou Hill; and brothers, little infant Willie Nelson, John A. Nelson and Homer Nelson Sr.
W.F. was a member of the Blue Lodge No. 105 F& AM for 42 years and a member of the Dalton Shrine Club for 41 years. He attended Rock Bridge Community Church and retired as a truck driver after 35 years of service.
W.F. was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois Elliott Nelson of Dalton; children and their spouses, Vickie Ann Bearden, David and Debra Nelson and Ricky and Denise Nelson, all of Dalton; grandchildren and their spouses, Wesley and Jennifer Hughes of Dalton, Sgt. Russell Nelson and Kelly of Fort Riley, Kan. and Pvt. Zeke Nelson of Fort Jackson, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Chase Hughes and Cayla Hughes; several nieces and nephews.
Services are Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
The family asks that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the Office of Development Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
