Knowles comes from a family of songwriters and musicians and received her first guitar for Christmas at age 15. She has been singing since she could speak and has always loved performing, starring in her first musical at the Cumberland County Playhouse at age 8.
She grew up listening to folk, jazz and bluegrass classics and would like to consider her music a combination of those styles. In a recent article in The Pulse (Chattanooga), reviewer Chris Kelly said of her performance, “The real treat came when she sang a cowboy song that showed off her vocal range and her talent for the genre. As she yodeled and warbled her way through the song, visions of the prairies came to mind and for a moment, she transported the audience to the wild west of yesteryear. Knowles played a set filled with bountiful emotion.”
Knowles is a talented songwriter and says about her songs, “They seem to come from somewhere else and just burst out as if they are a matter of life and death.” She hopes that each song is heard for the message it is intended to convey, messages about discovering our true selves and our place in the universe.
