The man’s injuries were not immediately available. His name, age, and address were not being released Sunday evening, said Dustin Coker, a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m.
The man and his wife had left Hamilton Medical Center and turned south from Thornton Avenue when he jumped out of the moving vehicle, Coker said. He didn’t know yet why the two had been at the hospital or why the man jumped out.
The wife turned the car around and saw her husband hit by another vehicle, Coker said. Witnesses say the man jumped in front of the vehicle, he said.
The investigation was incomplete Sunday evening, but Coker didn’t expect charges to be filed against the driver, whose name was not being released.
