Letter: The unsweetened tea party

Complaints about the Tea Party put forth by Karl Rove and other unhappy Republicans are precisely what I, and others, predicted would happen in early Obama world: If not elected, blame the tea party. Most TP groups don’t endorse candidates, now what?

The Republican Party reminds me of an old sign on the Tennessee state line: “The Three States of Tennessee.” Disarray within the GOP has become so evident that even the tea party is looking askance at senators and representatives. John Boehner stopped crying for the camera and started giving Barack Obama keys to the treasury. The House is no longer keeper of the purse. The GOP has thus become an enabler to out of control spending. Raising the debt ceiling is equal to raising the credit card limit for a spendthrift.
Now the GOP fears losing the Hispanic votes, those it never had in the first place. Blame the conservative tea party, right? Was Lindsey Graham a tea party candidate? Obama wants to give virtual amnesty to “11 million workers” with no doubt millions of dependents. That should raise the hackles of legal immigrants and waiting applicants in countries around the world.
However, Republicans are tripping over themselves to win Hispanic votes. Many immigrants in the U.S. resent the attention being paid to illegal aliens while their jobs are being taken over by them. U.S. citizens are fed up with being pushed aside for jobs because they don’t speak Spanish
The tea party has chimed in on gun control. Obama put out his 23 recent suggestions to Congress. The statement by Vice President Biden was that if Congress didn’t make the motions into law that Obama would do so by executive order. A generous number of executive orders on numerous subjects have already been penned by Obama. We the people should have a Congress to deal with defending our constitutional rights against dictatorial powers. If Congress had a spine, it has the power to stop any executive order that violates the U.S. Constitution. See Second Amendment (inalienable rights not being infringed) and the possible executive orders planned, 23 on gun control issues thus far.
Debt plus debt ceiling, gun control and illegal immigration are three of the many issues that face us at the moment. We need competent leaders now, not more division!
