A Chatsworth man was arrested on child molestation charges Monday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office after a child reported sexual abuse.

David Lavan Eads, 54, of 74 Love Drive, was charged with aggravated sexual battery, aggravated child molestation and child molestation.

A sheriff’s office incident report said the child told a counselor at her elementary school about the sexual abuse and said it happened at Eads’ home. The Whitfield County Division of Family and Children Services notified the Murray County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 12, the report said.

Detective Brett Morrison said the investigation is ongoing and he could not release details at this time. He did say the events took place this month and added that more charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Bond was denied for Eads and he is being held in the Murray County jail.
