- Attend this meeting.
Area high school commencement season is underway and we wish all the graduates favorable winds as they launch the next stage of their voyages through life.
Earning a diploma is a high point in one’s life, one of those rare times when a personal achievement is recognized and applauded.

It is also a time of reminiscing with friends, family, classmates and even teachers. And grads, you ought to be the first to acknowledge those who helped you make it to your graduation ceremony. Remember their contributions, they helped make everything possible. Please thank them.
For some of the Class of 2015, graduation is an end to formal education. For others, this is a stepping stone to furthering their learning at college. And for still others, military service is in order.
But for all of those involved, from graduates to their family members who have watched them develop into young men and women, this milestone is a memory to cherish.
To help preserve that memory, The Daily Citizen is publishing its annual Salute to Graduates supplement in today’s edition. This special section is a big undertaking — there are hundreds of senior photos to be collected, processed and placed.
Many thanks go out to the counselors and others at the schools who understand the relevance of this tribute and collect all of the information and photos and deliver them to us.
We have also been profiling a senior or seniors from each of the local high schools, young men and women who have overcome adversity to graduate or who have distinguished themselves in some way. You’ve seen some of those stories already, and there will be several more during the next two days.

To all of you who will don a cap and gown and walk across a “stage,” whether it is at the trade center or at your school’s football field or gym, we hope you will remember the moment.
Such moments come along rarely in life and should be savored.
As the saying goes, you will not pass this way again.
Congratulations!
