82-year-old man charged with aggravated battery

LIVE OAK, Fla. — On Wednesday, May 25, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office deputies charged Andrew Barmore, 82, for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and resisting arrest without violence, according to a police report.
The victim told police Barmore started arguing with him and then struck him with a closed fist, according to the report.

Barmore knocked the victim to the ground and took a pressure treated 2×4 from the victim’s truck, the report states.
Barmore then smashed the windows of the victim’s truck before hitting the victim in the head with the 2×4, the report states.
According to the report, a witness told police she went outside to see what her dogs were barking at when she saw Barmore grab the 2×4 and hit the victim with it. She then called 911.
SCSO officers went to Barmore’s residence. According to the report, an officer asked Barmore to put his hands in the air and to stop approaching them; Barmore refused to listen and yelled expletives at the officers.
At that point, an officer used a taser on Barmore and took him into custody, the report states.
Barmore told officers he was attacked by the victim, according to the report.

Barmore was taken to Shands of Live Oak for his injuries.
The victim was air lifted to Shands of Gainesville. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
