Dr. John Richmond has spent years trying not only to make the Greater Dalton area healthier but cleaner and greener as well.
“John has been a huge supporter of making Dalton clean and beautiful and serves on the Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful board and on the beautification committee,” said Amy Hartline, executive director of Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful.

Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful is a local nonprofit that, as its website notes, focuses on volunteer “activities that promote litter prevention, beautification, sustainability and water protection.”
“This year he was a big help for our Earth Day cleanup on Mill Creek,” Hartline said. “He didn’t mind getting in the weeds and the ditches to help pick up trash that had been there for years. He had more energy than most of the kids that join us.”
Richmond has also been active with the United Way of Northwest Georgia and the Dalton Education Foundation. He volunteered with the Whitfield County Health Department’s Medical Access Clinic for 18 years, helping patients with chronic kidney disease.
“John is passionate about seeing Dalton become the best it can be and, largely thanks to his efforts, it is well on the way,” said Hartline.
For his many volunteer efforts the Dalton Daily Citizen names John Richmond Citizen of the Week.
