Many Whitfield County residents know Kristina Horsley through her role as director of communications for Whitfield County Schools. But they may not know of the countless volunteer hours she puts in for the community, said Amy Hartline, recycling and education program coordinator for the Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority and executive director of Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful.

“Kris has a way of lighting up every room she enters,” Hartline said. “Her boundless energy and genuine warmth make everyone feel welcome, and she’s always willing to go the extra mile to help. Through her Rotary Club membership, I’ve seen her step up time and again to support others and champion the club’s charity work.”

Hartline said Horsley is also “an integral part of Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful,” serving as secretary and starting the Adopt-a-Mile program at Whitfield County Schools where volunteers collected 750 pounds of litter with the first cleanup.

“Kris’ leadership, kindness and meticulous attention to detail make her a beloved force in our community. Our schools, our land and our hearts are better for having Kris as a member,” said Hartline.

For her efforts to make Whitfield County a better and greener place to live, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Kristina Horsley Citizen of the Week.
