Voyles named ACC Pitcher of the Week

Sophia Voyles, a former Coahulla Creek High School standout and a former Dalton Daily Citizen All-Area Softball Player of the Year, has been named the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Pitcher of the Week for games played March 3-9, according to theACC.com.

The ACC softball weekly awards are voted on by a panel of representatives from both the schools and the conference office.

Voyles started two games for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and had a perfect 2-0 record. She finished the week with a combined 0.78 ERA after recording 11 strikeouts and holding the North Carolina State Wolfpack to a .152 batting average. Voyles threw a series-high six strikeouts on Friday before finishing the week on Sunday where she surrendered no earned runs.
