“We are now working to organize the sale items received and are accepting new donations,” a historical society spokesperson said.
The historical society accepts most donations with a few exceptions, including clothes, encyclopedias, Readers Digest collections and large exercise equipment.
The spring sale, also featuring Easter-related items, is one of the two principal fundraisers for the historical society, which is dedicated to preserving, collecting, researching and interpreting historical information or items to help future generations understand their heritage.
The historical society owns and maintains the following properties in Whitfield and Murray counties: the Crown Gardens & Archives (its headquarters, and the former offices of nearby Crown Cotton Mill); in Whitfield County, the Hamilton House, the Blunt House, Dug Gap Battle Park and the Huff House; and in Murray County, the Wright Hotel, the Chatsworth Depot and the Old Spring Place Methodist Church.
