Planning commission recommends approval of several rezoning requests

Members of the Dalton-Varnell-Whitfield County Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of several rezoning requests Monday.

The commission makes zoning recommendations to the city councils of Dalton and Varnell and to the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners recommended approval of:

• A request by Greyson Renz to rezone from general agriculture to suburban agriculture 7.8 acres at 228 Cohutta Beaverdale Road in Cohutta in order to divide the property.

• A request by Kayla Mathis to rezone from low-density, single-family residential to rural residential 2.53 acres at 2241 McCamish Road in Dalton to place a manufactured home on the property.

• A request by Riverstone Construction to rezone from high-density residential to zero lot line residential 12.7 acres at 2610 Cleveland Highway in Dalton to change a project already underway from multi-unit development to high-density, single-family.

• A request by Scott Cunningham to rezone from transitional residential to neighborhood commercial 0.57 of an acre at 112 N. Spencer St. in Dalton to bring the zoning into conformity with the use.

• A request by Adriana Lopez Molina to annex 0.17 of an acre at 1304 Frazier Drive into the city of Dalton as medium-density, single-family residential.

The commissioners unanimously recommended denial of a request by Ryan Beavers Construction to rezone from rural residential to high-density residential 5.54 acres on Fondel Lane in Tunnel Hill to build an 18-unit residential building.
