Admission to the pool is $3 per person, including non-swimmers. Proper swim attire is required at all times, including swim diapers with a swim suit worn over them for infants. The kiddie pool isn’t open due to ongoing construction.

While the pool is open, the rest of the John Davis Center is still under construction.

So, there is a different way to enter and exit the pool this summer. Park at the Ron Nix Soccer Complex end of James Brown Park and walk through the soccer complex to the pool area.

The City Council members in 2024 approved a contract with Felker Construction of Dalton to renovate the rec center with a maximum price for the project of $11.643 million. The council chose Felker as the contractor-at-risk for the renovation in September 2022. A contractor-at-risk agrees to deliver a project at a maximum price and in return is involved in the design of the project. The contract includes all of the contractor’s overhead, profit and fees, as well as the building construction, design fees, project furnishings, site work and any contingencies.

Plans call for a complete renovation of the administrative offices and the conference and assembly space upstairs. Plans also call for a new gym where the current gym is as well as a new entrance and lobby, and a new pool building.

The construction is expected to be complete this fall.
