Mary Marie Harkins Head

Mrs. Mary Marie Harkins Head, 81, of Dalton, departed this life Thursday, April 28, 2011, at her residence.

 She was born April 18, 1930, in Cleveland, Tenn., daughter of the late Ernest L. and Belle Chadwick Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her son, Bill Harkins; brother, Ernest Roberts Jr. and sister, Frances Gladdin.  

She is survived by her husband, Fred Head; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Georgia Harkins; grandson and his wife, Jason and Crystal Harkins, all of Dalton; caregiver, Edna Bignardi of Dalton; caregiver and special niece, Jodie Haney of California; nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.     

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Marie Harkins Head are Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.

Mrs. Head will be laid to rest beside her first husband at the West Hill Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Heart Lite Hospice Care for all they did for Mrs. Head and her family.
