Heroes Against Child Abuse benefit March 27

The second annual Heroes Against Child Abuse Benefit Lunch is set for Sunday, March 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oakwood Cafe downtown.

“We will be serving a scrumptious Sunday dinner for dine in or carry out.” said Joyce Parton of the sponsoring Family Support Council.

All the preparation, cooking and serving will be done by Family Support Council board members, staff and volunteers under the supervision and direction of Kasey Carpenter, Oakwood owner and Heroes sponsor.

The menu features Kasey’s freshly battered and fried “Awesome Chicken Tenders,” homestyle green beans, homemade mashed potatoes, buttered yeast rolls and home-brewed “Southern sweet tea.”

The Heroes Against Child Abuse program attempts to raise awareness among schoolchildren. The Family Support Council, which operates in Whitfield and Murray counties, is the largest child abuse support agency in Georgia.
