Autumn is around the corner, bringing cooler temperatures, falling leaves and popcorn. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts all over our seven-county service area, including Whitfield and Murray, are starting to go door-to-door selling Trail’s End brand popcorn to fund their Scouting activities.

Many packs and troops rely on this annual sale to support their activities — like the popular Pinewood Derby and Camp Sidney Dew — throughout the entire year. The sale also allows individual Scouts to earn prizes and scholarship money for college. On average, 70 percent of all popcorn sales go directly to support local Scouting.
Trail’s End fans will find Scouts selling all of their favorites, including microwave popcorn in Butter Light, Kettle Corn and Unbelievable Butter flavors, as well as signature snacks like Classic Caramel Corn, Caramel Corn with Nuts, Butter Toffee Caramel Corn, Cheddar Cheese Corn and White Cheddar Cheese Corn. In addition, Crispy Caramel Crunch microwave popcorn and Trail Mix are available exclusively online at trails-end.com. All flavors of Trail’s End microwave popcorn are made with heart-healthy canola oil, making them lower in calories, total fat, saturated fat and sodium, while also providing Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. The entire product line also contains 0g trans fats.
As the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts have offered for the past several years, customers also have the option of sending popcorn treats to U.S. Troops stationed all over the world. Seventy percent of every military donation supports local Scouting.
“We’re excited about this year’s Popcorn Sale,” said Rob Stone, field director for the Northwest Georgia Council, “It has become a primary source of funding for many of our Scout groups and helps take the financial burden off of our Scout families during these tough economic times. More than 70 percent of our sales come from previous customers. In 2010, Scouts in Floyd, Polk, Chattooga, Bartow, Gordon, Whitfield and Murray counties sold over $340,000 worth of Trail’s End popcorn. This year, we’re hoping to sell $400,000 worth.”
Beginning in September, look for Scouts taking orders in your neighborhood. The NWGA Trail’s End Popcorn sale ends on Oct. 21.
