Johns named manager of visitor centers

The Dalton Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the appointment of Erin Johns as the manager of visitor centers.
Previously she worked for the University of Georgia Extension Murray County Office as the extension associate. She also worked one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader at United Way of Northwest Georgia. She has a bachelor of arts in history from North Georgia College & State University (now the University of North Georgia) in Dahlonega.

“What drew me to the job was the chance to show others the importance of the history in our community of northwest Georgia,” Johns said. “Not many people can say they have an actual piece of history right in their backyard and in this area we are fortunate that we have so many great sites to share. I have always been interested in Civil War history and I’m excited to have a small part in sharing that with others.”
“We are very excited to have Erin join our team,” said Brett Huske, director of tourism. “Her past experience and her love of history will help us take our visitor center to the next level.”
