Man charged with molestation

A Tunnel Hill man was arrested Monday for an alleged child sex offense committed against a 4-year-old girl, authorities said.

Sean Patrick Hammontree, 24, of 407 Cottonwood Mill Road, was charged by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with one count of aggravated child molestation.

“It was a 4-year-old girl, and it was reported to us,” Chief Deputy Ray Sitton said when asked how the sheriff’s office became aware of the alleged incident.

Sitton added Hammontree has no prior arrests and was in the Murray County jail on Tuesday. He will face a Magistrate Court bond hearing today.
