Today's Forum for June 26

“Thursday’s front page picture of the Appreciation Luncheon at Tranquility of Dalton tells a delightful story. All of us know sweet little ladies who can deliver outrageous zingers with the calmest of expressions. The fire chief’s laugher was contagious — even in a picture. Loved it.”

“There is nothing wrong with the brick crosswalks downtown. Slow down and go the speed limit and you will have no ill effects.”

“This just in, the military is changing a word in the basic facing movements. ‘About face’ will now be ‘about Trump.’ A complete 180-degree turn, just like Donnie. How can you trust that guy?”

“I do believe that if Trump died, some of these people would dig him up and tell him he picked the wrong day to die. It’s surely that serious.”

“Say what you want to whether you believe or don’t believe in God, but people really better turn their eyes to him or he’s going to show you more of what he can do. He is warning people that they need to change their ways. Evil needs to be done away with, people need to get along with one another and if that doesn’t happen it’s just going to anger him even more. What he wants is peace, contentment and getting along with one another.”

“I think the citizens of Dalton need to know that there was a closed-door meeting this past Sunday with two of our board of education members, Rick Fromm and Sherwood Jones, and just a few select citizens at the Ryman Farm clubhouse. I find that very interesting.”

“On the subject of the NFL players choosing not to stand during the national anthem, there is an irony here. What other country with the possible exception of Canada could somebody make anywhere near the money they’re making playing football than the U.S.? So quit complaining.”

“When has the Statue of Liberty become the Statue of Illegal Immigration? Somebody explain that to me.”

“Is it true that students attending Texas A&M are sometimes considered Aggies?”

“I believe that Tony Maluso needs to move back to Ohio.”

Editor’s note: Tony wants to know why.

“I just don’t really know what it is about Levi Drive and Alex Drive. People around here have perfectly fine driveways but for some reason think that the driveways are supposed to be empty and the streets are supposed to be lined full of cars. I can’t quite figure out these things.”

“I’m a Democrat. I voted for Hillary because she is the smartest and most experienced. Now, she needs to quit whining that she lost. We just have to make the best of our president until he trips up and gets impeached.”

“Has anybody seen any good movies lately?”

“No one should mind paying higher school taxes for the city and the county because if you go listen to them they promise to build pretty schools. And everyone knows that pretty school buildings are what educate children. It’s not teachers, it’s not class size, it’s pretty buildings.”

“Who in their right mind would waste their money buying Hillary Clinton’s book?”

“I believe Hillary Clinton could be put in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for being the worst sport at losing on the planet. She lost to Obama. Do people even remember that? She didn’t carry on like that then. I think she’s absolutely lost her mind.”

“I agree with the person that called in about the government politicians. They’d sell their hair just for a vote and a dollar in their campaign fund. It’s a shame we’ve got people in office like that.”

“Our long, national nightmare is almost over: the Atlanta Braves’ season is coming to a close. Thank goodness we have high school, college and professional football now.”

“The Atlanta Falcons will not make the playoffs. They will never escape the curse of blowing the 28-3 lead. Mark it down.”
