Sawilla Felker Barefield

Mrs. Sawilla Felker Barefield of Dalton died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at Regency Park.

Mrs. Barefield was born Feb. 23, 1920. She is preceded in death by her husband, William S. Barefield Jr. and her parents, Hoyt and Deemie York Felker of Dalton.

She graduated from Dalton High School in 1936 and continued her education with Herrin School of Business.

Mrs. Barefield’s work career started with Cabin Crafts in 1947, Colox Chemical Corp. and CC Financial. She was a strong, independent lady, far beyond her time with her expert secretarial skills.

She loved cooking and entertaining her bridge club, but the love of family and the commitment she had for them will always be remembered.

Survivors include Beverly and Gregg Springfield, Terry and Ginger Springfield all of Chatsworth, Jim and Teri Springfield of Harlingen, Texas; special friend, Linda Whittle and a wonderful Christian family of the Dalton First Baptist Church.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dalton First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, GA 30722-0827.
