Business surveys continue

So far, some board members of the Dalton-Whitfield Economic Development Authority haven’t been “surprised” about what area leaders think of the business climate here.

Members have received 16 of 20 surveys they sent out earlier this summer to the top non-governmental employers in Whitfield County.

“It’s just healthy for us to validate what we’re hearing on a fairly consistent basis,” board member Chuck Dobbins said at Tuesday’s meeting of the development authority.

Dobbins said the authority has not yet made those survey responses public.

“We’re not going to talk today (Tuesday) about results because we want to get the results compiled and really look at them,” he said.

Board members and other volunteers will take those surveys back to employers and conduct in-depth interviews with the company CEO or the “lead person” in the organization.

“We want to know what do they see are the issues in the community, what are the positives, anything that might stagnate their ability to grow and continue to exist and survive,” Dobbins said.
