Man charged with aggravated child molestation

A Dalton man who was brought to the attention of authorities by the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) was charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sodomy of a person under 10.

Charles Henson, 36, was charged Tuesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an incident report, the investigation began on June 6 after Detective Jeff Wells was contacted by a DFCS official about a possible child molestation.

“Basically after Detective Wells got the initial information from DFCS and over the next two months, he was able to determine there were two victims involved and they were both juveniles,” Lt. Scott McAllister said. “There was more evidence that was developed after that, and it resulted in the other charges.”

Henson is being held at the county jail without bond. A court date had not been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
