McKenzie, Noling, Clark sign with colleges

Rylee McKenzie (baseball) signed with Daytona State College and Cameron Noling (football) signed with Reinhardt University. 

Two Branford High seniors and one Suwannee High senior signed with college teams on Friday.

Branford 

Name: Cameron Noling

Position: Punter

School: Reinhardt University

Stats: Some unexpected circumstances led to Noling moving to quarterback last season as a senior. He filled in admirably, completing 36 of 88 passes for 589 yards despite playing the position for the first time. He threw six touchdowns and six interceptions and played both ways as defensive back/safety. Noling also handled the punting duties and signed with Reinhardt University as a punter.  

Quotable: “It’s about 40 miles up from Atlanta. Everyone tells me to get out of here to experience something else. It’s something different, something good — I’m very excited.”


Name : Rylee McKenzie

Position: Pitcher 

School: Daytona State College 

Stats: McKenzie was team MVP for the Bucs in his senior year as he had a team-high .490 batting average. As a pitcher, he had a team-high 46 strikeouts.

A three-year starter at BHS, McKenzie finished his high school career with a .331 average and 37 RBIs in 63 games. He had an 8-4 record on the mound, strikeout out 88 in 67 2-3 innings pitched. 

Quotable: “This works out really well since I wanted to find my way to Embry-Riddle (Aeronautical University). Aviation is what I want to do. Daytona State is really nice and has really nice facilities and both are right there in Daytona Beach.     


Suwannee 

Name: Chase Clark

Sport: Wrestling 

School: Coker College 

Stats: Clark, who wrestled for three years at SHS, won the district championship (126 pound-division) in his senior year. He went on to take third place at regionals and advance to the state finals. At state, Clark went 3-2, just missing out on placing after falling in the blood round. 

Quotable: “The start of my senior year my goal was to wrestle on the collegiate level. I only visited Coker. Right after I got done with the visit I made my decision.”
