Today's Forum for Oct. 7-8

“If Shaw Industries, Engineered Floors and the other major manufacturers in Dalton are so concerned about the ‘success’ of Dalton and ‘quality of life’ in Dalton, they need to ‘strongly encourage’ their management-level employees to live in Dalton to get the home prices up and the education level improved in Dalton. Have you noticed all of the Tennessee and Catoosa County, Ga., car tags in Dalton each day?”

“If you were among the group of Trumpsters that think the caravan people are going to come here to vote for Democrats in the mid-terms, as Donald would say, then you are part of the uneducated that Donald loves. They can’t vote.”

“In Monday’s paper on the front page it says ‘School system in state to arm teachers and staff.’ I do hope they are very selective, do background checks, mental health checks. There are teachers who do not need to be carrying guns, who are not trained in guns, who have never touched a gun. After a local incident at a high school, I don’t think this is a good idea. Come up with the funds to have an officer at each school.”

“I wanted to say how thankful I am for our pastor whose sermon was about our Christian attitude when someone does something like cutting us off in traffic, running a stop sign, how we need to check our attitudes. I’m glad we had the sermon because not only did a gentleman run a stop sign, he also goes to church with me. So I’m really thankful for the sermon and that I reacted in the correct way.”

“I’ve got a suggestion. Pick an arbitrary number — say 25 or 30 — and beyond that number y’all won’t run any comments on a given topic. You only have to flail a dead horse so many times before it’s time to send it to the glue factory.”

“I’m calling about this backpack blower blowing leaves and garbage out into the street. That’s the darnedest thing I’ve ever heard of. Why don’t they get a trash bag or a plastic bag and rake that junk up and put it in a bag and put it in the garbage? Blowing it one way doesn’t solve the problem. You need to have men out there picking it up and putting it in the garbage.”

“In 1942 at this time of the year it was 93 degrees and we listen to these people talk about global warming and make their money.”

“I’ve been to quite a few county commissioners meeting and they keep talking about the acoustics in the room that they meet in. It’s called speak into the microphone. You have a several thousand dollars microphone system, they push them up in the air and they will not talk into them. That’s why you can’t hear them.”

“It would be really nice if people would learn the concept of stopping, getting over and letting other traffic go by. What are they gaining by blocking traffic? Please, please stop blocking traffic.”

“I wondered how long it would take for people to call in about the gas prices and try to blame the president. When will you people learn? Presidents do not control the price of gas. It’s controlled by the market and by speculators. And as long as there are speculators out there doing what they do, they can raise and lower gas prices as they please.”
