“With all the blessings we have and the people in Dalton are complaining so much. I’m 93, I got up this morning, I checked the obituaries, I wasn’t in there, I did my chores, got my walker and enjoyed the day. Try to be happy for a change. It helps.”

“I see our commissioners have a new wish list for spending our money. I would love to see more of my money, and less wishes from our commissioners.”

“Can we please add our additional tax election to our normal commissioner election? I do believe we would see fewer and probably no tax increases.”

“The courthouse was built with a tremendous amount of wasted space called the lobby area around elevators on both floors. Expand some offices around those areas and there would be room for a courtroom plus offices on one end instead of building a new administration building.”

“Viewpoints by Tom Purcell on Wednesday is so true! If you don’t like the extra money you’re receiving, however small it might be, donate it to charity. You could be receiving less! Living on Social Security isn’t an easy task and no we haven’t received an increase, health insurance has gone up but it will be OK! County commissioners think again about another SPLOST. I will not be voting for it this time. More parks, heck no, a gym? Fix the building!”

“SPLOST is such a waste of money. We need leadership who can come up with some useful projects, otherwise we will wind up with more paddleboats and waste.”

“Surprise, surprise, the voters may face a SPLOST tax in Whitfield County in 2019. They want more money to pour down the drain. I think we need to stop that garbage.”

“Trump raised gas prices.”

“Yes, I did pray for President Obama. I pray for all of our leaders and I never said President Obama was not a good man, he was just not a good president.”

“In the midst of all the bad news in the paper, the story about the dog on the roof was a delight. Thank you.”

“What does the dog ‘Shingle’ say when he barks? I bet it’s ‘Roof, roof!'”

“For the person that called in griping about the stray cats in the Kroger parking lot, do you donate money to an animal shelter or the humane society? Are you pushing for strong spay/neuter laws in Whitfield County? Or are you just calling the Forum griping? You know you could actually step forward and be somebody and do something other than say ‘Somebody should do something about that.'”

“Please explain to me what mulling is. I see the legislature does a lot of it.”

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when we try to deceive. Take note, Obama, Hillary, the DNC. You’re going to be in trouble.”

“Donald Trump is trying to save his own behind. I get that. But I am more angry with Paul Ryan and some of the Republicans taking the word of a habitual liar, Donald Trump, over the FBI. I believe all of this mess about the memos are playing right into Putin’s hands, a man that Trump will not say a word against. Why? I believe he has something to hide. Folks, Donald Trump is ruining the Republican Party.”

“Let’s see, when Obama was in there he just always did what he wanted to. He didn’t care what Congress or John Q. Public even thought. When he did the DACA, it was unconstitutional. Just name me one accomplishment he did to better our economy. Name me one thing he has done. I want to see it in the Forum.”
