A third-generation newspaperman has been named publisher of The Daily Citizen.

William H. Bronson III takes over on Sunday from Terry Connor, who has accepted a job in Texas.

“My family and I are very excited to be coming to Dalton,” said Bronson, who has been publisher in Americus for the last two years. Bronson and his wife Erica have two daughters, Georgia, 6, and Emma Grace, 4, and a son, Wills, 2.

Bronson graduated from Culver Military Academy, earned an undergraduate degree from Ole Miss and a graduate degree from Alabama.

He has worked at newspapers in New York and Dallas.

While in Americus he was a member of the Rotary Board, the Chamber Board, Georgia Southwestern State University Foundation and the Advisory Committee to the Superintendent of Americus-Sumter County Schools.

Erica Bronson served as a board member for the Sumter County Boys and Girls Club, the Relay for Life Board and was a member of the International Junior League.

“The newspaper philosophy I have is one I learned from my family,” Bronson said. “The role of a community newspaper is to reflect the community’s values and protect its culture while challenging the status quo when needed.”
