Area Arrests

Editor’s note: The following information is compiled from public records taken from reports from local law enforcement agencies.

• Avery Nicholas Cronan, 46, 4298 Cronan Drive, Cohutta, was charged Thursday by the Tunnel Hill Police Department with possession of meth, misdemeanor probation violation, obstruction of an officer by threat/violence and removal/attempt to remove a weapon from a public official.

• Tifton Shavazy Talon Bonds, 27, 501 W. Waugh St.-4, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Georgia State Patrol with fugitive from justice, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving with a suspended or revoked license and by the Dalton Police Department with misdemeanor failure to appear.

• Charles Justin Davenport, 38, 1106 McClure Drive, Tunnel Hill, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with felony theft by deception and criminal trespass of property without permission.

• James Dylan Smith, 32, 225 Cheyenne Trail N.W., Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, open container violation, failure to yield when entering an intersection, hit and run and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

• Jose Omar Velazquez, 36, 1210 Valencia Drive, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI (multiple substances), open container violation, misdemeanor willful obstruction of law officers, failure to maintain lane and improper lane change or usage.

• Ricardo Gomez Jr., 31, 1004 Cartwright Place-3, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of cocaine, DUI, operating a motor vehicle without a proper tag/decal, crossing a guard line with a weapon without consent, failure to stop at a stop sign and change of address or name required within 60 days.
