Robert Eugene ‘Gene’ Segars

Mr. Robert Eugene “Gene” Segars, 79, of Rocky Face, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was the son of the late Ralph Quinn Segars and Bernice McClure Segars and was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Quinn Segars.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorthy Ledford Segars of Rocky Face; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Segars DeWitt and Terry of Ringgold.; son, Stanley Eugene Segars of Rocky Face; grandsons, Terrance Lee DeWitt II of Alpharetta, Kurtis Robert Eugene Segars and Jennifer of Marietta, Robert Eric DeWitt of Ringgold, Andrew Jay Segars of Dallas, Airman 1st Class Anthony Craig Segars of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Cory John Martin Segars of Ringgold; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Eva Mae Segars of Dallas, John Charles and Christa Segars of Germany; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Sue Michael of Rocky Face, Betty Rogers Gregory and John of Tunnel Hill, Kathy and Jimmy Teasley of Dalton; daughters-in-law, Rhonda Segars and Pat Segars; nieces and nephews.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at the Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Brinkley, the Rev. Oscar Michael and the Rev. Van Smith officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.

Burial will be in the Dunagan Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

A white dove and white balloon release will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m.
