Dalton police were questioning a suspect Monday evening in connection with the kidnapping of woman at knife point from a Dalton shopping center.

The woman was approached by the man around 12:30 p.m. Monday at Bry-Man’s Plaza South, 101 W. Walnut Ave., near Office Depot and Bry-Man’s Plaza Cleaners, according to a news release from the police department. The man threatened to kill the woman, forced her into her vehicle and drove her to her bank where he forced her to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was then released, the news release said. She was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a white male; between 35 and 45 years old; between 5 feet, 5 inches and 6 feet tall; and wearing a ball cap with “Tide” on one side and the number “10” and “Ricky Rudd” on the other. He was wearing black jeans with a hole in the right inside leg and a red/gray football-style shirt. The victim told police he had a faded tattoo on his left arm.

By late Monday afternoon, no eyewitnesses had talked to police, said police spokesman Chris McDonald.

“He could have got her in the car before anyone saw anything,” McDonald said.
