Sarah Geneva Nix Reece
Mrs. Sarah Geneva Nix Reece, 85, of Dalton, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007.
Mrs. Reece was born July 2, 1921, to William Arzie and Cecelia Arletha Saxon in the Choestoe District of Union County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Stephens Reece; brothers, Donald and Lum Nix.
Mrs. Reece was retired from WestPoint Pepperell, Springdale Plant, after 27 years. She was a charter member of Union Point United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, serving as Sunday school teacher, communion stewardess and officer in the United Methodist Women. Her hobby was gardening.
Geneva in survived by her children, Lavana Gordon, Tony Reece, Rebecca and John Sirmons, all of Dalton; grandchildren, Mitch and Amy Gordon of Adairsville, Phil and Cheryl Gordon of Ringgold and Bryan Gordon of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Hannah and McKenzie Gordon of Adairsville, Caleb, Paige and Shelby Gordon of Ringgold; sister-in-law, Blanche Nix of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Weldon and Naomi Reece of Blairsville; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at noon in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Mimbs officiating and music by Linda King.
Graveside burial services will be at 4 p.m. at Shady Grove Methodist Church in Blairsville with Bob Bone officiating and music by John Nix.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 10 to noon on Monday at Love Funeral Home and after the 4 p.m. graveside services in Blairsville.
Pallbearers will be nephews, J. E. Hutson, Rick Lance, Bobby Joe Queen, Claxton Townsend, Marion Foster and Benny Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are Eric England, John Turner, Bill Wilson, Jimmy Lance, Calvin Hood and Comer Saxon. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.lovefuneralhomega.com.
