A Murray County man is charged with making a dozen false reports to Murray County 911 between Aug. 31 and Nov. 12 of this year.

Samuel Isaiah Kent Jr., 36, of 444 Barney Pierce Road, Chatsworth, was arrested after he made a call to dispatchers late Wednesday night saying someone had fired shots and people were yelling, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. Records showed the phone number had been used for at least 12 calls about things that proved to be false, the report said. The caller used a different name each time.

Kent told deputies he had used other people’s names so that “the people he called on would not know he called,” the report said.

Kent was released from the Murray County Jail Friday morning on $10,000 bond. A phone listed in his name was continuously busy Friday afternoon.
