Charles Robert Dodd Sr.

Mr. Charles Robert Dodd Sr., 77, of Dalton, departed this life Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Dodd was born June 15, 1931, in Floyd County, a son of the late Henry D. Dodd Sr. and Mattie L. Norwood Dodd. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia D. Dodd; daughter, Patricia C. Fauscett; sons, Charles R. “Bobby” Dodd Jr. and Timothy J. Dodd; grandsons, Andy Bowers and Daniel Dodd.

He was retired from Cabin Crafts Springdale Plant where he was a mechanical engineer and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Dodd is survived by his wife, Sharon Dodd of Varnell; daughter and son-in-law, Wayne and Marcy Heatherly of Chatsworth, Donna and the Rev. Tommy Webb of Crandall, Tammy and Clemente McNary of California; son, Tracy Woody; brother, Russell Dodd of Acworth; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and a special granddaughter, Tawndra Fauscett of Varnell.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Robert Dodd Sr. are today at 3 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Keith and the Rev. Tommy Webb officiating.

Burial will be at Varnell Cemetery with Paul Johnson, Chris Elrod, Jeremy Dodd, Shane Bowers, Joe Bowers, Pete Dodd, Tracy Stewart and Matthew Price serving as pallbearers.

A white dove release will conclude the service.

The family received friends Wednesday at the funeral home.
