Apostle Paul Poe

Apostle Paul Poe, 74, of Dalton, departed this life Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home.

Paul was born June 15, 1935, in Marion County, Tenn., a son of the late Henry and Susie Mae Layne Poe. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Bessie Lou Dalton Poe on Oct. 8, 2009; his sisters, Lucille Brewer, Ann Poe, Retha Long and Odell Gilliam; his brothers, Pete Poe, the Rev. Gene Poe and the Rev. J.C. “Billy” Poe.

Paul worked many years at E.T. Barwick Mills and at World Carpet for more than 19 years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Robert and Phyllis Sue Poe; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Apostle Paul Poe are Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Joe Cochran officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved Bessie at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
