Villa Atkins Crawford
Mrs. Villa Atkins Crawford, 96, of Chatsworth Highway, New Hope community of Ellijay, member of New Hope Baptist Church, passed on Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.
Born on April 12, 1912, to her late parents Frank and Fannie Mae Smith Atkins in Cartersville and is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Crawford and son Robert Howard Crawford.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Crawford of Dalton and Grady Crawford of Ellijay; granddaughters, Susie Crawford King of Dalton, Lorrie Crawford of Dalton and Crystal Crawford Prentice of Dalton; grandson, Dr. Jimmy H. Crawford of Poquason, Va., and nine great grandchildren.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Ellijay with the Rev. Steve Jones and the Rev. Norman Gibbs officiating with the church choir performing.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Starks, Keith Logan, Greg Martin, Alan Davenport, Phillip Pankey and Brent Land.
Flowers are being accepted or family requests donations be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Ed Woodring, 1867 Chatsworth Highway, Ellijay, GA 30540.
Logan Funeral Home and chapel is in charge of arrangements.
