The Community Calendar runs in the Living section each Wednesday and Sunday on a space-available basis. Feb. 26
• The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center will offer blood pressure checkups Feb. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to noon. There will also be a presentation and healthy heart updates by the American Heart Association at 11 a.m. Blue Cross Blue Shield will have information available, as well. • The regular monthly meeting of the Legionnaires and Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 112 in Dalton will be held Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at the post. For membership information, call the Post at (706) 226-5120 or Lisa Elliott at (706) 259-5423 or (706) 264-3897.
• T.R.S. representative Mike Zarem will discuss retirement issues with current employees of Georgia school systems who are within five years of retirement Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at Dalton Middle School. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is sponsored by the Dalton, Whitfield, Murray Retired Educators Association.
• Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4985 will have bingo Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. Prices start at $7 with $1,500 in prizes. The Post is at 618 Veterans Drive in Dalton.
Feb. 27
• A spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Engine Room in Dalton. Plates are $6 and include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic rolls, drink and dessert. Dine-in and carryout will both be available. Proceeds benefit the Wrangler Association, Junior Divison Rodeo. The Engine Room is located on Waring Road.
• The Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce will host Chamber Connections Feb. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Outback Steakhouse in Dalton. The cost is $15 for members and $65 for nonmembers.
Feb. 28
• The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church homecoming committee will host a play and dinner in observance of Black History Month Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Church of Christ in LaFayette will present “Right On King Jesus.” Admission is a $10 donation. The church is at 2014 M.L. King Jr. Blvd. in Dalton. The public is invited.
March 3
• The regular monthly meeting of Veterans of Foreign Wars will be held March 3 at 6 p.m. at Post 4985. The Post is at 618 Veterans Drive in Dalton.
• The Conasauga Chapter of the Georgia Nurses Association will meet March 3 at 7 p.m. at the Whitfield County Health Department in Dalton. Ricardo Risco M.D. will speak on attention deficient hyperactive disease (ADHD). All members and registered nurses are invited. To RSVP or for more information, call J. March 5
• The Whitfield County Historic Preservation Commission will have a special called meeting March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Georgia Regional Development Center in Dalton. The group will consider John Veverka’s proposals as presented Feb. 28 and their impact on the commission’s goals. The Center is at 503 W. Waugh St.
March 6-7
• The Chattanooga Area Mothers of Multiples Club will host a spring consignment sale March 6-7 at the East Ridge Community Center in East Ridge. Available items include children’s clothing from preemie to kids, baby gear, shoes, toys, maternity items, household goods and more. Proceeds will benefit local charities and the club. Hours are March 6 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sales are cash only. March 7
• Junior Achievement will host its 18th annual “Boot Scootin” Bowl-A-Thon March 7 at Galaxy Bowling Lanes in Dalton. Bowling times are 9 and 11 a.m. Just get together a team of five bowlers who will each raise $100 for Junior Achievement for a team goal of $500. Each team will bowl two games and receive shoes, a custom T-shirt and team picture. There will be door prizes and incentive prizes. • Aimee Stinson, author of “The Championship Game,” will have a book signing March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Book Nook in Dalton. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Stinson lives in Tunnel Hill. The Book Nook is located on North Hamilton Street.
March 19

• The Oakwood Café will host a fundraiser Sunday lunch March 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit Friendship House.
