James Earnest ‘Doc’ Holliday

James Earnest “Doc” Holliday, 59, of Dalton, departed this life Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Holliday was born Dec. 20, 1950 in Dalton, a son of the late Floyd Earnest and Hazel Viola Carroll Holliday. James retired in 2004 from the city of Dalton after 32 years.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Lisa Holliday of Rocky Face and John and Tonja Holliday of Dalton; mother of his children, Shirley Diane Holliday Mitchell of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Ann and Bill Wood of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Kayla, Leigha, Kristy Holliday and Kara Holliday Cochran, Brittani and Storm Curl, Kristian Hughes, great-grandchildren, Brayden and Hailey Hughes and Jayden Curl.

Services to celebrate the life of James Holliday are Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Swamp Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
