The Whitfield Education Association, an affiliate of the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), proudly announces its endorsed candidates for the state Legislature:
Trending
In Senate District 54, WEA endorses Charlie Bethel. We found Mr. Bethel an excellent candidate for public education. He is a public schools product, and he understands the role of quality education in developing the state’s economic future. We believe that Mr. Bethel will have a bright future in the state Senate.
In House District 6, we strongly endorse Rep. Tom Dickson. Rep. Dickson uses his long years of education experience to bring much needed common sense to the education debate in Atlanta. He has a unique ability to stand up to pressure and to get things done for the children of Georgia.
In House District 4, WEA chose to endorse challenger Dennis Mock because of his belief in public education. We respect the incumbent, but we believe that after seven years of drastic cuts to public education a change needs to be made. Mr. Mock talks passionately about public education and its role in providing a better future for Whitfield County’s students.
In House District 3, the endorsement went to Rep. Tom Weldon. Rep. Weldon’s work on the Retirement Committee earned his endorsement in this race.
Members of WEA met with candidates who also filled out a questionnaire on education issues. The local affiliate’s recommendations were forwarded to GAE’s Fund for Children and Public Education, which made the final endorsements.
All the candidates in our races happened to be Republican, but GAE is bipartisan in its approach, endorsing candidates from both parties. To view all the endorsements go to www.voteducation.org.
