2 local students receive NGEMC scholarships

Christian Heritage High School senior Laura-Anne Grace Jackson was awarded the North Georgia Electric Membership Corp.’s (NGEMC) 2018 Howard Baker Memorial Scholarship for Whitfield County and Murray County High School senior Branson Hunter Carnes was awarded the same scholarship for Murray County.
Jackson plans to attend Dalton State College and major in English. Carnes plans to attend Shorter College and major in wildlife biology.

High school seniors who reside in households served by NGEMC are eligible to apply for the $1,000 scholarship, which is offered in partnership with Tennessee Valley Authority and named for Baker, a former NGEMC board member. Five other north Georgia students received the scholarship.
