The Keith McDearis Scholarship is given in memory of the longtime Dalton Little Theatre actor, dancer, singer, musician and musical theatre director who was active in both high school and community theatrical productions throughout his lifetime. Harrod has appeared in numerous productions at Northwest Whitfield High School and Dalton Little Theatre. He also sings in the boys quartet and is a member of the improv comedy team. The son of Ashley Brown and Ricky Harrod, he will attend Kennesaw State University.

The J. Forrest Ovbey Scholarship is given in memory of the 1998 Southeast Whitfield High School graduate who was active in both school and Dalton Little Theatre productions throughout his four years of high school. McClurken has performed in plays at Dalton High School and Dalton Little Theatre. An accomplished singer, he has been a “song and dance man” with the Catamount Singers all four years of high school. The son of Curry and John McClurken, Henry will attend Dalton State College.

The Dr. Jimmy Nations Scholarship is given in memory of the longtime educator, Dalton Little Theatre actor and fine arts education supporter. Parrott plans a career in education. The Northwest Whitfield High School senior, daughter of Darlene and Ray Parrott, has acted in productions in middle and high school as well as Dalton Little Theatre. She won the Georgia High School Association state championship in duo acting in 2017. This summer she will be a dance instructor for the Salvation Army children’s camp. She will attend Berry College.

The students were recognized recently at their schools’ honors days and will also be honored at the Saturday, Aug. 10, annual banquet at Dalton Little Theatre. Scholarships are made possible through the generous membership support and sponsorship of Dalton Little Theatre patrons and business partners.
