The Dalton Chamber Choir presents a Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in the Parrish Hall, 901 W. Emery St. in Dalton.

The concert is a compilation of sacred and secular choral works designed to highlight aspects (or signs) of the sacred Christmas story: the star, the angels and shepherds, the Holy Child in the manger and the rejoicing over the Holy Birth and the season in which we celebrate it.

The all-volunteer choir is an evolution of an earlier group, Chorus Peregrinus (translated “wandering choir”), that was formed in 1993 by Bert Landman, a local organist/pianist, composer, vocal coach and choirmaster.

The choir performed under the direction of Camilla Springfield from 2005 to 2015, under Adam Burnette from 2015 to 2019, and then returned again to Springfield this year. During the years under Burnette the repertoire was expanded to include secular pieces, larger choral works and a choral opera.

In 2019, the choir was invited to become a part of the Creative Arts Guild’s Music Program.

The merger has been advantageous to both organizations.

“We are very proud to have teamed up with this outstanding group to share mutual talents and mission,” Music Program Director Lisa Elders said.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors over 65 and all students and may be bought at the door or by going to www.creativeartsguild.org.
